Have a leftover from my discussion with Maryland coach Gary Williams from yesterday afternoon.
Williams said oft-injured forward Jerome Burney is out of his walking boot and will be X-rayed on June 23 (one week from today).
SEE RELATED:
Burney, of course, was limited to nine games because of foot injuries. This came two years after he was forced to redshirt because a preseason injury set him back.
Even with the arrival of a pair of good-to-go freshmen, James Padgett and Jordan Williams, there’s still some optimism in College Park that Burney can add some height and athleticism as a reserve.
It’s too early to tell. But if those X-rays come back favorable, then at least Burney will be in a better spot entering the second half of 2009 than he was for much of last season.
