CHARLOTTESVILLE —- Those questions about Virginia seem sort of silly right about now.

The top seed in the NCAA lacrosse tournament just authored maybe the closest thing to a perfect 15 minutes as I’ve seen in a long, long time —- simply ambushing Villanova from the start and turning the last three quarters into an exercise of avoiding injuries and little more.

Danny Glading had two goals and two assists —- in the first eight minutes. The Cavaliers got three goals from their second midfield. Brian Carroll got his usual extra-man goal. Chad Gaudet was 9-for-10 on the faceoff.

This had nothing to do with Villanova being terrible. I still don’t have a gauge on the Wildcats, in part because they’ve barely had the ball.

Virginia, though, looks superlative —- and has clearly put a shaky finish to the regular season in the past.

Just where any doubts about the Cavaliers should be left.
