Just got off the phone with Virginia lacrosse coach Dom Starsia, and came away with a lot of tidbits regarding the Cavaliers’ look for 2010.

One thing that will be a little different is the coaching staff.

Starsia said Hannon Wright, who just finished his fourth year as a full-time assistant, is leaving to join the Marine Corps’ JAG program at Quantico. Wright graduated from Virginia’s law school earlier this decade while serving as a volunteer assistant.

Wright has been a part of all three of the Cavaliers’ title under Starsia; one as a player (1999), one as a volunteer assistant (2003) and one as a full-time assistant (2006).

So while there aren’t many head coaching vacancies nationally (Dartmouth and Denver), this certainly rates as a very intriguing —- and, no doubt, sought-after —- opening for an assistant coach.
