WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. —- A night game on the road usually means the chance to watch some other action from around the country.
Of course, it helps if the games are good.

From my hotel just a couple miles from BB&T Field, there are five games on in the early afternoon.
* Virginia Tech’s pummeling of Boston College
* Arkansas’ woodshedding of Auburn
* Penn State’s layup against Eastern Illinois
* The first Georgia-Tennessee game featuring two unranked teams since 1937
* The absolutely unlistenable and mostly uninteresting Purdue-Minnesota game.
So much for that plan.
In any case, the early afternoon ACC lesson is Virginia Tech’s defense just had a slightly off game last week, Boston College should be glad it plays in Chestnut Hill on Halloween given its Jekyll/Hyde-style home/road split.
Oh, and the ACC has got to be praying for any matchup other than Virginia Tech-Boston College in the conference title game. There’s no need to replay this one.
More to come from the Dash later in the afternoon.
