Among the true freshmen who seem like possibilities to play this season is cornerback Dexter McDougle.
With Nolan Carroll out the rest of the year with a broken tibia, McDougle’s chances of playing would seem to be much better. At this stage, he is probably Maryland’s No. 5 cornerback, and coach Ralph Friedgen said Sunday the Terps would probably have to burn his redshirt eventually.

From the sounds of things from defensive coordinator Don Brown, it probably won’t be this week.
“He’s progressing,” Brown said. “To be honest with you, he needs to progress a little bit more before I could make even that assessment. But he’s working on the varsity field.”
