Maryland-Middle Tennessee figured to be a close game.

But not because each team kept giving the other the ball.

There’s a sense of generosity around Byrd Stadium. Maryland has three turnovers. Middle Tennessee has coughed it up twice. And the Terps are extremely fortunate to be clinging to a 14-13 lead.

It’s been a so-so day for Chris Turner. Both tailbacks, Da’Rel Scott and Davin Meggett, have a touchdown run. Meggett has a 12-7 edge in carries, which very well may have something to do with Scott’s fumble.

A number that bodes well for the Maryland defense: Middle Tennessee is 0-for-7 on third-down conversions.

More to come.
