One of the subtlely amusing moments from yesterday’s weekly luncheon came when I ran into Phil Costa on his way out of the interview session.

The striking thing wasn’t him wearing his visor backwards. That’s nothing new.

Instead, it was the fact his ankles were already taped.

“I gotta get ready for practice,” Costa said.

Mind you, he popped in to chat with reporters at 1:30. Practice didn’t start for two hours.

That’s someone dedicated to his craft.

It turns out Costa was in earlier to watch film and continue game prep, so he just took care of something he’d need to do anyway. But I’m pretty sure that’s the first time I’ve seen a guy roll in ready to go so soon before practice.
