It’s basically a once every week or so deal at this point, but I can’t help but to check in on California (Pa.)’s site to see how former Terp Josh Portis is doing.
And yesterday, he did very, very well.
SEE RELATED:
Facing Gannon (the school, not the Legend of Zelda villian), Portis completed 17 of 26 for 262 yards and five touchdowns as the Vulcans rolled to a 52-10 victory.
Through four games, Portis is 56 of 109 for 753 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions. He also has 24 carries for 148 yards —- a modest six carries a game for a guy who was basically used as an extra running bacl last season at Maryland.
California is 2-2, and probably can’t afford to lose more than one more time if it wants to reach the Division II playoffs. But there’s still a chance for that to happen, and it’ll be a lot more likely if Portis strings together a few games like yesterday’s.
