Just wrapped up at Ludwig Field, where Kevin Tangney‘s 89th minute header into the upper right corner lifted Maryland to a 1-0 victory over second-ranked North Carolina.

Tar Heel keeper Brooks Haggerty didn’t have much of a chance on the play —- and it came after Carolina’s defense played superbly for 85 minutes..

Tangney, one of the few holdovers from both the 2005 and 2008 national title teams, scored only his second career goal.

Both teams are 5-1-1, and Maryland takes over the outright ACC lead at 2-0-1.

More to come. Heading down for postgame interviews now.
