No, C.J. Brown isn’t still running after carving up the Clemson defense for 162 rushing yards Saturday.
But would anyone believe the redshirt sophomore already has as many rushing yards this season as any Maryland quarterback since 1993?

OK, that probably is believable.
In any case, Brown has 315 yards rushing in four games, including just one start. That’s enough to slip past Shaun Hill‘s 309 yards as the most for a Terp signal-caller over a stretch covering nearly two decades.
(Why is 1993 the cutoff? Because that’s how far back my Maryland football media guide collection goes).
MOST RUSHING YARDS BY A MARYLAND QB IN A SEASON, 1993-PRESENT
315: C.J. Brown, 2011
309: Shaun Hill, 2001
284: Scott McBrien, 2002
259: Scott McBrien, 2003
256: Calvin McCall, 1999
230: Randall Jones, 1998
229: Jamarr Robinson, 2009
186: Josh Portis, 2008
There is one asterisk to provide. Hill rushed for 31 yards in the Orange Bowl after the 2001 season, which was the last year the NCAA did not include bowl performances in its statistics. Toss those yards in, and Brown needs another 25 yards to match Hill’s total.
Perhaps an equally intriguing tidbit is that Brown’s performance —- the best rushing game ever by a Maryland quarterback —- was also one of the 20 best rushing totals by any Maryland player over the last two decades and change.
