TALLHASSEE, Fla. —- Maryland starting quarterback C.J. Brown left Saturday’s 41-16 loss to Maryland after taking a hit to the head.

Brown did not return after he slid into Florida State linebacker Nigel Bradham, who was subsequently called for a personal foul. Replays showed Bradham delivered a helmet-to-helmet hit as Brown slid into him less than five minutes into the third quarter.

“I took a shot to the head,” Brown said. “Didn’t get knocked out. Didn’t lose any consciousness. I stood up and felt a little woozy.”

Brown, who was 11 of 19 for 92 yards, retreated to the locker room. He returned to the sideline before the end of the third quarter.

“I passed the test with flying colors,” Brown said. “They gave me my helmet back, which is always good.”

Backup Danny O’Brien took over for Brown and accounted for two touchdowns. O’Brien had started the 15 previous games before Brown earned the nod against Clemson on Oct. 15. O’Brien was 9 of 18 for 180 yards against the Seminoles.

As for who gets the call against Boston College next week? Coach Randy Edsall said he doesn’t plan to announce a starter until Saturday.

“I just decided to keep Danny in there,” Edsall said. “What we will do is we’ll evaluate it and watch those guys during the week and make a game-time decision next week.”
