Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will look to inject some extra energy into Republican Steve Lonegan’s Senate bid as he heads into the final days of his campaign against Newark Mayor Cory Booker.
Tea Party Express announced Friday that Mrs. Palin, the party’s 2008 vice presidential candidate, will join nationally syndicated radio talk show host Mark Levin and Amy Kremer, leader of Tea Party Express, at a rally Saturday at a racetrack in Egypt, New Jersey.

Mr. Lonegan and Mr. Booker, a Democrat, are scheduled to face off in a special election Wednesday to fill the seat that opened up following the death of Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg, the last World War II veteran in the Senate.
The winner will fill out the remainder of Mr. Lautenberg’s term, which ends next year, and will have to decide whether they will defend the seat in the 2014 election.
The latest Real Clear Politics average of polls show that Mr. Booker is more than 14 points ahead of Mr. Lonegan, a businessman and former mayor of Bogota.
Mr. Lonegan’s campaign says the polls are flawed and that the election will turn on voter turnout, which is unpredictable in a special election.
Mrs. Palin and Mr. Levin endorsed Mr. Lonegan earlier this year.
Mrs. Palin remains popular within certain slices of the conservative base.
She shocked the political world when she quit her job as governor months after she and Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican, lost to President Obama in the 2008 election.
