Frustration over the government shutdown spilled over Tuesday into a press conference on the Capitol grounds, where citizens had the chance to hurl verbal tomatoes at Republicans who tried to blame Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Obama for the stalemate.
That message from the GOP group — led by Rep. Steve Scalise and Sen. David Vitter, both of Louisiana — was drowned out at times by a woman who repeatedly cried out that it was time for lawmakers to end the shutdown and marched around with a homemade sign that read, “It Is Time That Congress Stop Acting Like Spoiled Brats.”

A man repeatedly shouted, “Wake up!” and another split the sea of television cameras and barked at the group that he would do everything in his power to make sure that they would not get elected.
“Remember the ‘We the People?’” he snapped, arguing that 90 percent of the public opposes a government shutdown. “We are tired of a Congress that can’t govern this country. You guys are worthless, in my opinion! All of you — worthless! You don’t run this country; you don’t get along. All you care about is getting re-elected and making a lot of money.”
Polls show that support for Obamacare has dropped off significantly since the beginning of the year but that a majority of Americans oppose the GOP’s push to tie a delay or outright defunding of Obamacare to the continuing funding resolution that Congress will need to pass to open the federal government back up.
