The Washington Mystics’ Alana Beard, Lindsey Harding and Crystal Langhorne were among 14 players added to 2009 USA Basketball Women’s National Team training camp roster today.
The national team, headed by UConn coach Geno Auriemma, will have a camp at American University’s Bender Arena from Sept. 30 – Oct. 5. It is the start of preparations for the 2010 FIBA World Championship and ultimately the 2012 Olympics in London.

Beard, Harding and Langhorne were the primary catalysts during Washington’s playoff run this season. But earning a Team USA roster spot won’t be easy. They are in a pool of 22 players that will eventually be cut down to 12.
However, the fall camp at AU could be a good opportunity to stand out. Several of the invitees are injured and will be limited, and whomever is playing in the WNBA Finals won’t be there.
