Mark Knoller of CBS Radio has been covering the White House since 1976. During the Clinton presidency, he began keeping meticulous records of things that members of the White House press corps now look to him as an authority on.

For example, only Knoller would know how many times President Bush went to the Camp David retreat during his eight years in office (answer: 149 trips, totaling all or part of 487 days), or how many flights on Air Force One he’s taken (1,674).

Reporters often go to Knoller for isolated statistics, but today, one day before Mr. Bush leaves office, Mr. Knoller has done a great service to all reporters, and historians, by publishing a long list of all his best stats on Bush.
