President Obama is doing his first Rose Garden press conference today with South Korean President Lee Myung Bak.
It is a double-barrell news day, with Obama expected to make news both on the North Korean regime’s recent nuclear tests, as well as the protests in Iran against Friday’s election results.
Even when major allies such as British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have visited, Obama has not done a full-blown news conference with these foreign leaders.
Obama and foreign leaders have taken questions from the small group of reporters called the pool in the Oval Office, but this is the first time the entire press corps has been able to attend a bilateral presser.
