According to a tweet from The Washington Post’s Karen Tumulty, former Republican presidential hopeful and Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty took a shot at both GOP presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin in one sentence:

Pawlenty at #gridiron winter dinner: “it bothers me a little to be beaten by sarah palin’s stunt double.”

Ouch. The Winter Gridiron Dinner is an annual DC event sponsored by the Association of American Rhodes Scholars. Democratic and Republican keynote speakers address dinner attendees. Mr. Pawlenty was the Republican keynote speaker while Newark, New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker was the Democratic keynote speaker.

Governor Pawlenty dropped out of the presidential campaign back in August when Bachmann won the Iowa straw poll, while Pawlenty placed third with more than 2000 votes less than Bachmann.

Mr. Pawlenty had trouble fundraising at that point and the emergence of Governor Rick Perry of Texas into the race after the Iowa straw poll made it a further uphill battle for the Minnesota Republican.
