In the wake of the Live Action video stings of Planned Parenthood clinics, Congressman Mike Pence, Indiana Republican, has called on Congress to deny any tax payer funding to Planned Parenthood:

“The recent release of an undercover video exposing duplicity and potential criminality by an employee of Planned Parenthood is an outrage.

“Every American should be shocked that an employee of the largest recipient of federal funds under

Title X has been recorded aiding and abetting underage sex trafficking.

“The time to deny any and all funding to Planned Parenthood is now. In the wake of yet another

scandal involving Planned Parenthood, I urge Congress to move the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act to the floor for immediate consideration.”

Congressman Pence introduced a bill on the House floor on January 7 that would assure no taxpayer money would go towards Planned Parenthood operations.

Mr. Pence previously introduced an amendment to a 2009  Labor/Health and Human Services appropriations bill that would have banned tax payer dollars from getting to Planned Parenthood clinics. However, the amendment failed to pass in the then-Democratic controlled House 183 to 247.

Obviously, with a Republican majority in the House, much has changed and most of the new GOP House lawmakers are more than likely to side with Mr. Pence on this issue. According to the Susan B. Anthony List, a Washington D.C. based pro-life organization, “Of the 87 new Republicans in the House of Representatives, an astonishing 80 are pro-life, and we also have 12 new pro-life Senators.”
