I caught up with Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele prior the RNC meeting this morning and asked about general talk that he does not have much of a chance to retain his leadership position today when elections happen for the chair position he is running for again. His answers did not seem like a candidate who was confident that he would be leading the RNC after today’s election in Maryland.

“I know, I know. Maybe they’re right maybe they’re wrong I don’t have anything to say other than that,” he told me.

Many people are wondering why Mr. Steele is remaining in the race given that his current support for chairman is relatively weak for his re-election. Mr. Steele would only respond, “Well maybe they have the answers. I have my own.”
