Congressman Dennis Cardoza, California Democrat, announced Thursday morning he will not be seeking re-election. In his statement,  Mr. Cardoza, who first went to Capitol Hill in 2003, blasted President Obama for failing to properly handle the country’s housing and foreclosure crisis:

“Looking back on disappointments, I am dismayed by the Administration’s failure to understand and effectively address the current housing foreclosure crisis.  Home foreclosures are destroying communities and crushing our economy, and the Administration’s inaction is infuriating.”

Mr. Cardoza’s statement talks further about his disappointment regarding the “The constant focus on ‘screamers’ and the ‘horse race’ of elections.” that he believes “is smothering useful discourse and meaningful debate of public policy.”
