This Nov. 20, 2018, photo shows two pieces of murals displayed in the City Council chambers of the city hall in St. Paul. Officials in St. Paul are rethinking murals from the 1930s that line the walls of the City Council chambers. The City Council and Ramsey County Board are expected to vote next month to start the process of commissioning new murals to temporarily cover the old ones. The Star Tribune reports the new murals will rotate in and out of the chambers, allowing visitors to see them alongside the original works. Chicago artist John Norton painted the murals. Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
