MACHIAS, Maine (AP) - A New York man charged in the death of a woman whose body was found alongside a road in Cherryfield has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Carine Reeves, 39, appeared before a judge Friday after being brought to Maine from New York, where he’d been imprisoned for other crimes.

He’s charged in the killing of Sally Shaw, 55, who was shot to death and left alongside a road in 2017. She was shot in the head.

In 2018, Reeve’s girlfriend at the time, Quaneysha Greeley, 20, pleaded guilty to hindering apprehension and conspiracy to distribute drugs under an agreement in which a murder charge was dismissed.

She’s expected to testify at the trial of Reeves. Reeves was being held without bail at the Washington County Jail.
