sPresident Trump will travel to Geneva, Ohio, on Tuesday to attend the Patriot Games, a high school athletic competition that he helped launch as part of America’s 250th anniversary.
“President Trump looks forward to attending the Patriot Games in Ohio on Tuesday as we continue to celebrate 250 years of American greatness!” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on X late Sunday.
Mr. Trump will attend the finale on Tuesday night.
The Patriot Games is an athletic competition drawing male and female representatives from every state, territory, military base, and tribal nation. It is part of the White House-linked nonprofit Freedom 250’s events to honor America’s birthday.
The 120 participants range in age from 14 to 17 and are competing for more than $250,000 in scholarship money, which will be split evenly between a male and female winner.
Over three days, youths are facing off in a series of competitions ranging from tug of war, kickball, long jump, dodgeball and a military-style boot camp. The events are designed to test strength, endurance, agility, teamwork and perseverance, according to the event organizers.
It is the latest sporting event involving Mr. Trump that is tied to the nation’s anniversary. There was a UFC fight at the White House last month, and an IndyCar race through Washington is scheduled for next weekend.
Coverage of the Patriot Games event will stream on the ESPN app. A one-hour primetime special on ABC will recap the games on Aug. 13.
