First lady Melania Trump made clear Wednesday that she does not hold back with her husband, even when it comes to critiquing his biggest speeches.
Asked on “Fox & Friends” if President Trump sought her opinion on his address to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, Mrs. Trump said: “I told him he had a great delivery.”
“He did very well and a great speech,” she said. “So I tell him the truth. Sometimes he doesn’t want to hear it, what I tell him, but that’s OK. I always say the truth.”
It’s a dynamic that plays out in her documentary, “Melania,” in which the president appears several times alongside his wife. In one scene, he calls her to ask if she watched one of his speeches, to which she tells him she did not and will catch it later on the news.
During Wednesday’s appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Mrs. Trump previewed a follow-up project: a multipart Fox News docuseries that will be “very different” from her feature-length film, which focused on the 20 days leading up to the 2025 inauguration.
“It’s more conversation one-on-one with me,” she said. “So when I was traveling and doing all of the filming, the director was asking me questions. And there are some private questions that I will answer that people never heard before. So it’s kind of exciting.”
The series is expected to cover her White House work, family life and philanthropic initiatives — offering a different angle from the earlier production.
“Melania,” produced by Amazon MGM Studios, made about $16.7 million at the box office against a $40 million production budget. It has a 9% critics rating and a 99% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
