Pop star Justin Bieber gave an impromptu performance Tuesday in Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park, singing songs to the surprise and delight of onlookers, news outlets report.
The free mini-concert quickly attracted fans who recorded videos on their cellphones, and their footage went viral on social media.
Dressed casually, Mr. Bieber was backed by a small band on acoustic and electronic instruments. They performed songs including “Speed Demon,” “All I Can Take” and “Yukon.”
Hours after the concert, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman described the performance in a post on X as “a testament to the progress we are achieving to take back the park from drug dealers and enliven it for families.” He added that Mr. Bieber is “definitely on the invite list for next year’s Labor Day weekend picnic.”
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli also weighed in on social media: “Bieber in MacArthur Park. That’s progress. Amazing what can happen when criminals and drug dealers are removed from public spaces.”
