Mike Glenn grew up on Navy bases as the son of a career sailor but then decided to annoy his father and joined the Army after he graduated from high school in the Dallas area. He did a hitch as an enlisted soldier in Germany during the Cold War, where he spent a considerable amount of time in the field on maneuvers. After leaving the Army, he moved back home to northeast Texas and entered the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied history. He also took Army ROTC classes at UT Arlington and upon graduation received a commission as a Second Lieutenant. He was assigned to the 3rd Cavalry Regiment at Fort Bliss in El Paso and took his platoon to the Middle East where he fought in the Gulf War. He got into journalism after Operation Desert Storm and has worked at newspapers and magazines throughout Texas. He joined The Washington Times from the Houston Chronicle. Israeli opposition leader Lapid offers his own plan for Gaza to counter Trump’s

The head of the Israeli opposition to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday floated his own plan to resolve the thorny question of the future of the Gaza Strip, a plan that would have Egypt assume control over the territory for a decade or more once the war with Hamas has concluded, allowing Israel to finally "divorce" itself from the decimated and hostile Palestinian enclave.

Israel says Hamas killed little Ariel, Kfir Bibas with ‘bare hands’

Hamas fighters in the Gaza Strip killed brothers Ariel and Kfir Bibas only weeks after they were kidnapped during the terrorists' Oct. 7, 2023, rampage into southern Israel. A forensic examination of Ariel, 4, and 10-month-old Kfir, showed they weren't killed in a later airstrike as the Palestinian militants claimed, officials with the Israel Defense Forces said Friday.

U.S., Russia agree to more talks to end war as sidelined Ukraine fumes

Hegseth stands by comments that Ukraine must give up land in peace deal

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Thursday brushed off European complaints that President Trump's surprise one-on-one talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin amounted to a betrayal of Ukraine and stood by his comments a day earlier that it was unrealistic for Kyiv to expect a peace deal to return all the land it had lost since Russia invaded nearly three years ago.
