House Republicans cancel immigration votes

Staring at a certain defeat, House Republicans canceled votes on their immigration compromise Thursday -- an embarrassing setback for leaders who'd thought they'd finally been able to wrangle some unanimity on an issue that's bedeviled them for years.

House immigration bills will fail: Conservatives

House conservatives said Thursday that both immigration bills up for votes later in the day are doomed to defeat, blaming party leaders for failing to put their effort behind enforcement-heavy legislation.

Border focus shifts to 2,300 kids already taken from parents

Having convinced President Trump to reverse separation of most illegal immigrant parents from children at the border, Democrats in Congress now say he must quickly reunite the more than 2,300 children who were taken during the six weeks the practice was in place.

Medicaid fraud exploded after Obamacare expansion: GOP report

Democrats no help to Donald Trump, Republicans on family separation issue

Republicans thought they'd found a solution Tuesday to the separation of illegal immigrant families on the border, announcing plans to let the families stay together in Homeland Security detention facilities while they await deportation. But Democrats quickly shot down any thought of signing on, saying they're in no rush to help Mr. Trump clean up the mess they say he's made.
