Social Security benefits to rise 0.3 percent in 2017

Illegal immigration surged 23 percent over last year

Nearly 409,000 illegal immigrants were nabbed at the border in fiscal year 2016 -- up from about 331,000 a year earlier -- and Homeland Security officials say the increased arrests also mean an increase in the number that are sneaking by them.

A federal judge has ordered the IRS to finally clean up the tea party targeting mess, giving the tax agency less than a month to decide on a handful of applications that are still pending more than three years after officials first admitted they were targeting the conservative groups and subjecting them to intrusive scrutiny.
