The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) is the principal law enforcement agency responsible for serving St. Louis City in the U.S. state of Missouri. The department is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The current Chief of Police is Colonel Sam Dotson, who was named to the position on December 14, 2012. The St. Louis Police Department is a division of the St. Louis Department of Public Safety.
