Friday’s disappointing jobs report was barely off the presses before Crossroads GPS, the affiliate of the Karl Rove-funded Super PAC American Crossroads, announced a new ad campaign urging President Obama to address the national debt and stagnant economy.

In an ad, titled “Excuses,” the group dings Mr. Obama for purportedly offering little more than excuses for the rough economy, showing clips of the president speaking about things like “headwinds” coming from Europe and “a string of bad luck” as reasons for the economy’s woes.

“But Mr. Obama never blames Washington’s wild spending and skyrocketing debt,” the narrator says.

The ad will air on network television stations in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia next week. It is the first wave of a $25 million advocacy effort starting July 10 and running through early August, according to the group.
