President Obama had some harsh words for Republican challenger Mitt Romney in comments at the end of a recent magazine interview, according to a report posted Thursday by Politico.
The political news website posted excerpts from an upcoming Rolling Stone cover story profiling the president, which includes an account of a conversation between Mr. Obama and the magazine’s executive editor Eric Bates following a 45-minute interview at the White House on Oct. 11.
Mr. Bates is quoted in the story as saying that his 6-year-old daughter asked him to pass an encouraging message to the president: “Tell him: You can do it.”
“You know, kids have good instincts,” Mr. Obama responds in the excerpt. “They look at the other guy and say, ‘Well, that’s a bullsh–er, I can tell.’”
The president has been frequently critical of Mr. Romney during the campaign, often accusing him of reversing his past stances on issues such as foreign policy, health care and tax cuts for the wealthy.
In the interview, Mr. Obama also rejected claims that he underperformed as president, citing the health care law, Wall Street reforms and expanding access to Pell Grants and student loans as among his top accomplishments.
