Former Republican Rep. Allen West, an outspoken tea party firebrand who lost re-election in November after one term, has been hired by the conservative PJ Media as director of “next generation programming.”
Mr. West will lead PJ Media’s NextGeneration.TV, a paid-membership-based service utilizing Internet TV, social media, live events and newsletters in which “the issues of the day will be examined through the lens of the next generation, while at the same time encouraging all Americans to stand up for the nation’s collective future.”
“Just as I did in the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan and later on Capitol Hill, I will stand up for our Republic and our children’s Republic at PJ Media,” Mr. West said in a prepared statement.
In a video on the Next Generation’s website, Mr. West said he will be based in Washington.
Mr. West, a onetime Army lieutenant colonel who emerged as a hero of the conservative tea party movement when he was elected to the House in 2010 from South Florida, narrowly lost his re-election bid to Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy in one of the most bitter and costly House races of 2012. He conceded defeat two weeks after the Nov. 6 contest after court appearances, two partial recounts and accusations by his camp that the vote count wasn’t fair.
