Maryland freshman forward Jordan Williams turned himself into police in his hometown Saturday on two charges stemming from an incident last month.
Williams is charged with breach of peace and third-degree assault in Torrington, Conn. A Torrington police official said the records in the case are sealed, which usually occurs when juveniles are charged.

The official said Williams, who was released from custody, is due back in court Oct. 13.
[Update:] The police gave us incorrect information; the arraignment date is Oct. 5.
A Maryland spokesman did not have an immediate comment.
Williams, a 6-foot-10, 260-pounder, is expected to factor into the frontcourt this season after the Terrapins used two smaller forwards (6-foot-6 Landon Milbourne and 6-foot-7 Dave Neal) as their starters last season.
Williams averaged 35.7 points as a senior at Torrington High School. Rivals.com ranked him the No. 85 recruit in the nation, while he was ranked 95th by Scout.com.
