Oskar Osala, who was scoring goals at a prolific pace in his rookie season in the AHL, is out on the ice right now. No official word from the Caps, but it looks like the big Finnish power forward is going to get his first look in the NHL.

Osala has 16 goals in 26 games for the Hershey Bears, and is a plus-17 playing on a line with fellow rookies Mathieu Perreault and Francois Bouchard. He leads the league in goals by a rookie, two more than Buffalo property Nathan Gerbe.

Tomas Fleischmann isn’t on the ice. Neither is Keith Aucoin nor Bryan Helmer. Sergei Fedorov, Mike Green, Alexander Semin and Tom Poti are. As for the other injured guys, Eric Fehr and John Erskine are also missing.
