The Caps just getting under way with their morning skate here at K-Plex. Sergei Fedorov and Brian Pothier were working out on the ice before hand. There are three goaltenders on the ice, as are Donald Brashear and Alex Ovechkin (both had the day off yesterday).

Every defenseman is out there as well, including Tyler Sloan and Sean Collins. One of them would have to either a) be sent down or b) be scatched with someone else (Brent Johnson or Tomas Fleischmann) put in injured reserve for both Mike Green and Jeff Schultz to play tonight.

Finally, this column pretty much sums up the state of the Leafs right now. I think there are some fans of a football team in this town that can sympathize with rooting for a team that is too mediocre to be good and too mediocre to be bad.

UPDATE: Well … not much. Bruce Boudreau still isn’t saying if Mike Green or Jeff Schultz is playing tonight, stressing caution. But it still would appear as of right now that at least one of them has to dress tonight.

Boudreau confirmed that Jose Theodore will be in net. He will be opposite Vesa Toskala, despite his recent shaky play for the Leafs. Donald Brashear, who missed yesterday, and Michael Nylander, who skipped this morning, are also both going to play.
