GM George McPhee said Viktor Kozlov is expected to miss a couple of weeks. Vancouver’s Rob Davison hit him along the boards in the second period, and tried to get him to fight, but Kozlov gingerly went to the bench favoring his left leg. Chris Clark skated on the top line today, but Bruce Boudreau said not to read too much into that. This should mean Eric Fehr will get a jersey Thursday in Pittsburgh.

Boudreau said Donald Brashear missed practice because of a shot that hit him last night. He blocked a shot and then went to the bench and immediately took off his glove and started shaking his hand. Alexander Semin also skipped practice, but both Boudreau and McPhee said he was just resting.

Semin has a team-leading six points in three games (including being tied with a team-best three goals), and Boudreau said it is in part because he is shooting the puck more instead of looking to make the fancy play. Another guy who is looking to shoot the puck more is Milan Jurcina (more about him in the paper tomorrow).

No real updates on Sergei Fedorov’s position for Thursday night. He practiced at forward today, but Boudreau said it was because they were short up front. Fedorov seemed OK with playing either position, which has been his stance all along.
