General manager George McPhee just addressed the media about a potpurri of stuff. The most interesting nugget was about 2008 draft pick Braden Holtby. Because Michal Neuvirth left last night’s game against Norfolk with a lower-body injury, the Hershey Bears could use another goaltender and Holtby might be the answer.
Holtby’s season with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL just ended in a seven-game series loss to Lethbridge. McPhee said the team will reach out to Holtby today about joining the Bears for the remainder of the season. He is already under contract, but McPhee said they need to make sure there are no schooling or logistical issues to stand in the way.
Holtby was second in the WHL with 40 wins this season and seventh in the league in save percentage. The 19-year-old was a fourth-round pick in June by the Caps.
