The Caps are just wrapping up their morning skate here at Kettler in Arlington. Michal Neuvirth will start in goal for the third straight game tonight against the New Jersey Devils.

Bruce Boudreau said Jose Theodore is not injured, and that he would play Wednesday. It might be safe to assume he meant Monday against Carolina, which is actually the next time the Caps play.

“[Neuvirth] has won two in a row, and I thought he would probably better suited after having a couple of days off and coming back because he played last,” Boudreau said. “When you take a couple of days off it is sometimes a little tougher to be as sharp as you want to be right off the bat.”

Semyon Varlamov skated at the end of practice as he continues to work his way back from a groin injury. This will be Neuvirth’s fifth start for the Caps this season. Technically, Neuvrith played in three straight games one time last season for the Caps, but the third time was only a 23-second stint because Boudreau wanted him to skate to the bench for an extra attacker.

Theodore hasn’t missed three straight games when healthy since last postseason.

Based on the moring skate, Tyler Sloan will be one of the two healthy scratches on defense. Not sure who the other guy will be.
