John Carlson, the Caps’ second first-round pick in June, was named the OHL rookie of the month for December. He had four goals and 10 assists in 10 games for the London Knights.

He’s not slowing down in January, either. In the team’s first game since trading for wunderkind John Tavares (who didn’t play), the Knights beat his old team Oshawa 7-1 thanks in part to a pair of goals from Carlson. I can’t find video of it on the web yet, but I’ve been told one of his goals was on SportsCentre up here last night and it was a doozy.
