John Erskine was in Colorado yesterday to see Dr. James Kelly, who is considered one of, if not the leading specialist when it comes to concussions. As GM George McPhee told us yesterday, Erskine needed to be cleared to play by a second doctor. Erskine said he got that clearance and hopes to be in the lineup as early as Tuesday against Edmonton.
He said he wants to get in a couple more hard practices before coming back. One of the reasons is he’s had some time off this past week because his wife gave birth to their second child and his first son, Paxton. Erskine hasn’t played since Nov. 24 because of the concussion.
