Former Caps first-round pick Steve Eminger was not extended a qualifing offer today by the Florida Panthers, so he is now an unrestricted free agent. Eminger played for three teams last season after the Caps dealt him to Philadelphia on draft day with a pick for the draft choice that became John Carlson.
Eminger turns 26 in October and saw a lot of playing time for the middle team, Tampa Bay, last season. He made $1.2 million last year and was likely going to earn a bit of a raise because of the stint with the Lightning.

It will be interesting to see who scoops him up for next season — he could still be a third-pairing guy for someone in the NHL.
