With Hershey’s camp opening Monday, the Capitals cut 15 players including 2008 first-round pick Anton Gustafsson.
Gustafsson, son of former Washington star Bengt Gustafsson, got into one preseason game and registered two shots.
Other notables getting the hook from Caps camp were defenseman Joe Finley, forward Boyd Kane, defenseman Josh Godfrey and goaltender Braden Holtby.
This leaves the Caps with 42 players in camp. They need to be down to 23 by the afternoon of Oct. 1.
