D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty posted a note on the official Obama inaugural Web site today. Fenty urged proper planning for the inauguration and the weekend festivities, and touted a Web site that will give logistical details to tourists. Here’s the note:

On behalf of the residents of the District of Columbia, I want to welcome everyone coming to the nation’s capital for the 56th Presidential Inauguration. This Inauguration promises to be like no other in history.

As you begin preparing for your visit to our great city, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to properly plan and be prepared for what to expect when you arrive. I encourage you to plan every step of your trip from packing your bags to your arrival into the city.

The city is bracing for record-breaking crowds on January 20 and we expect an unprecedented number of visitors to enter the city during the days leading up to it.
