The spirit inside a large tent on the field of RFK Stadium, where volunteers are filling care packages for U.S. soldiers overseas, is pretty amazing.

A group called Operation Gratitude, based out of Encino, CA, has set up an assembly line where “super-volunteers” hand supplies to people who walk along a number of stations and get plastic bags filled up.

When the first wave of bag-filler volunteers came through the doors into the tent, the “super volunteers” cheered as if it were President-elect Barack Obama himself. And 15-20 minutes into this first hour, Michelle Obama and Jill Biden haven’t shown up, but the volunteers continue to chant “Obama,” cheer each other on, and just generally make noise.
