Congressman Trey Gowdy was rebuffed Wednesday when he tried to ask the Obama administration’s tech experts about health policy during an oversight hearing on Capitol Hill, but he drew out some chuckles when he praised the intellect of a witness from the White House.
The South Carolina Republican said Todd Park should be able to tell him “what law” dictated that HealthCare.gov, the flawed federal website tied to Obamacare, had to launch on Oct. 1.

When Mr. Park demurred, Mr. Gowdy told him to give it a go, since he’s “the smartest one in the room.”
Mr. Park disagreed with that assessment.
“”Don’t short yourself. You’re the smartest one in the room,” Mr. Gowdy said. “Trust me, I’ve been in this room for a while.”
