The two remaining World War II veterans in Congress say a bitterly divided Capitol Hill should lean on the lessons they learned in service.
Reps. John D. Dingell, Michigan Democrat, and Ralph M. Hall, Texas Republican, told MSNBC’s “The Daily Rundown” they picked up lessons during the war that seem to be lost among federal lawmakers today.

“Discipline, that’s what you really learn,” Mr. Hall said.
“I think veterans make good public servants, good citizens,” Mr. Dingell said.
Former Rep. Patrick Murphy, Pennsylvania Democrat and decorated veteran, said today’s lawmakers “don’t need a Bronze Star” to be a leader in Congress or vote on matters of war.
“Do what you think is right,” he told MSNBC.
