I asked Jim Zorn at his Monday press conference if he had ever done anything like the coach he will be facing this week in San Francisco, Mike Singletary, did to motivate his players.

Earlier this season, Singletary took his pants off at halftime to make a point to the 49ers team. Zorn said he never did anything like that, but he did put on a show once after practice to illustrate how to react to pressure, moving his body around like he was getting tighter and tighter until he fell to the ground and curled up in a fetal position.

Somewhere, George Allen must have been smiling. Allen once put on a show in the Redskins locker room before a Dallas game where he imagined himself and Cowboys coach Tom Landry meeting at midfield to fight for a win. Then Allen went into a karate exhibition of how he would take Landry apart.

Zorn vs. Singletary, a Hall of Fame linebacker? The Redskins coach would wind up in a fetal position — permanently.

I will be on The Sports Reporters on ESPN 980 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m.
