The Patriot Center at George Mason University in Fairfax has become the center of the fight universe in the Washington area, and will be hosting two events in April and May featuring mixed martial arts and boxing.

The Ultimate Warrior Challenge, the locall mixed martial arts promotion that has been making a name for itself and just put on a show there last month, will host another card on Saturday, April 25 that will likely featuring Washington’s Mike “The Hulk” Easton defending his UWC title.

One week later, the boxing franchise around here, middleweight and former “Contender” star Jimmy Lange of Falls Church, will return to put on another boxing card at the Patriot Center, with the details to be worked out.

Lange paved the way for success for such events at the arena several years ago with the impressive turnouts he got for local fight shows. And now mixed martial arts is following suit, finding a home at the Patriot Center.

I will be on The Sports Reporters on ESPN 980 AM on Monday, March 23, from 5 to 7 p.m.
