The undated reproduction provided by the Bach Archive in Leipzig shows the portrait of Johann Sebastian Bach by Leipzig painter Elias Gottlob Haussmann. The portrait of the German composer is being returned to his home city after a 250-year odyssey that took it as far as the United States. The Bach Archive in the German city of Leipzig said Wednesday, April 29, 2015 the painting is a bequest from late American philanthropist William H. A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
