As teenagers in the 1980s, Oatis and his girlfriend were arrested for bringing about two pounds of cocaine from Venezuela to the U.S., where Oatis planned to sell it at Choate Rosemary Hall, an elite boarding school that he attended in Wallingford, Conn. Oatis and a dozen other students were expelled. Oatis was sentenced to a probation program and the charges were erased. A new movie, "The Preppie Connection," is based on Oatis' story. Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
